Vote early, vote often.

Those who have been with us for a couple of months may recall that we’ve had ongoing problems with votes registering properly. I used to get problems with vote sites saying “not found” when I tried to vote. Those problems have not recurred since we moved from managed hosting to Linode. It may be that Linode has more robust internal networking than managed hosters do, though this wouldn’t be hard. We’re hoping that the vote trouble is gone, but there may be a new problem some day. Keep us posted.

A while back I asked Solly to store voting results in the database to help us solve voting problems and to see how people use our software. He used that information to make a beautiful graph.

Finally, I wanted everyone to see some more of the work that is normally invisible.

We has got Patreon

We have set up a Patreon to handle recurring contributions. You can read about it here. As with anything new, there may be issues. I’ve tried to head off as many as possible on that page. Let us know if you run into new, exciting, unanticipated issues.

We will be setting up something to handle one-time contributions after the Patreon is more or less squared away and we answer all the exciting back-end issues brought up by writing contributor rewards into the code.

Thanks for the memories

We’ve had a few crashes lately due to running out of memory. Accordingly we have purchased a service upgrade from 4G of ram to 5G, for an additional $3/month minus a 10% recurring discount for a total of $2.70.

The total cost of running VoidTree is now $29.37/month.

If the server ever reboots out from under you, please post in #reports on Discord. Your report will help us track down any error messages.
